Vidya Vikas Charitable Trust (VVCT)

Vidya Vikas Charitable Trust, VVCT, came into existence in 2001 under Bhaishri’s auspices. Bhaishri firmly believes that, “An educated person is a valuable asset to society as he can contribute to its progress.” Achieving a high literacy rate is one of the greatest challenges of any nation. With this principle, VVCT has been instrumental in going into the villages of India and trying to provide basic education to the children. Bhaishri recognises the villages which are remotely located are unable to access educational facilities and therefore education must reach them in their villages closer to them.

VVCT provides education to the ones who need it most, the underprivileged and destitute in rural areas. VVCT channels efforts of communities that contribute funds for rural education and child welfare. VVCT leads the way in augmenting funds for start-up schools that lack sponsors and are in need of help to initiate efforts, and helps other organizations which are focused on providing education to the needy students in India.

The key objectives of VVCT are:

  • To provide education in rural India
  • To improve life through education
  • To provide disaster relief

VVCT has funded numerous projects across several schools in rural India. For example, VVCT has provided financial assistance to a tribal school in Saputara, a remote village near the Maharashtra/Gujarat border. The tradition took root with Saputara and extended to the Gandhi Dham Aahir Samaj Girls’ School in Kutch, and then steadily helped shape similar efforts such as Madhav Nagar, water tank projects in drought stricken areas, Manthan School for the handicapped, Saheli School in Porbandar, Manfara Tribal School in Kutch, Paragnyachakshu School for Blind, Akshar Trust, a school for hearing-impaired children, and Junagadh Girls’ School.

VVCT strives to help improve the quality of life of young children. Education will empower these children to be independent, contribute to the society, and help others by giving the gift of education.
